Salix announce a new round of public sector funding towards heat decarbonisation
Salix have announced a new round of funding towards heat decarbonisation, the scheme is entitled Phase 2 LCSF.
The Phase 2 LCSF Application Portal opened on Wednesday 28th July 2021 for all eligible public sector bodies applications. Academies and maintained schools have another opportunity to apply when the next window opens on Monday 13th September 2021 specifically for these organisations. The additional application opportunity for education providers acknowledges the challenges faced by academies and schools during the typical summer shut down period. £3.5 million of the £15 million funding will be held back for the start of the autumn term application window. The £11.5 million that is available to apply for now is also open to schools as they come under the bracket for ‘eligible public sector bodies’. Successful applicants will have until March 2022 to complete their heat decarbonisation projects.
The funding initiative aims to help with the UK’s 2050 Net Zero target. The financing provides an ideal opportunity for public sector buildings to be switched to low carbon heating methods and move away from fossil-fueled heating as they typically are now.
The Dukefield Energy team can help with applications and creating detailed proposals, we recommend academies and schools start planning now to have the best chance of a successful application for the next window. Assistance with developing strategically focused heat decarbonisation plans can help put organisations in good stead for this application window and future funding opportunities.
Applications will be assessed on the information submitted around cost and deliverability. Details such as the building floor area in relation to the decarbonisation plan will be required. The building’s Display Energy Certificate (DEC) will hold the floor area information, if your DEC is not up to date Dukefield Energy can help with this as well. A summary of hours necessary to complete the work is also required - including preparing a site survey, time spent on site and the time for developing the plan.
The application portal will close once all funding has been allocating. Dukefield Energy are well placed to assist you should you wish to make an application.
